Smoothies… there are oh so many different ways to make these sweet treats! There are dessert smoothies, smoothie bowls, healing smoothies, anti-oxidant smoothies, green smoothies, and protein smoothies. Here, at Healthy Happy Loved, we love them all! A creamy smoothie is like having ice cream for a meal! Who wouldn’t want that?! Since we are huge smoothie fans, we want to share one of our all-time favorite go-to smoothies, the Basic Green Protein Smoothie. We love to enjoy this smoothie for breakfast, snack, post workout, or as a meal replacement.
This Basic Green Smoothie is the perfect combination of sweet, creamy, and delicious. Although the taste may make you think otherwise, this smoothie provides substantial nutrients such as spinach, chia seeds, protein, and fibrous fruit! This recipe can also be used as a smoothie “base” in which you can add many different superfoods and flavors to it. Want to know what is in this Basic Green Protein Smoothie?!
This delicious beauty contains half of a frozen banana, 1 (or more) cups almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla plant-based protein powder, 1 tsp. chia seeds, 1 cup spinach, and ice! It is basic enough to throw together in 5 minutes or less, yet still provide you with healthy greens, protein, fat, and some fruit. Further, we love adding chia seeds to increase fiber, healthy fat, and endurance. This green smoothie is also basic enough to serve as a template to create your own combinations! Some other possible flavor combinations include:
- Chocolate Cacao- 1/2 banana, milk, chocolate protein, scoop of cacao nibs, spinach, ice
- Tropical- 1/2 banana, coconut water, vanilla protein, 2 tbsp. coconut milk, spinach, ice
- Chunky Monkey- 1/2 banana, milk, vanilla protein, 1 scoop nut butter, cacao nibs, spinach, ice

A delicious, creamy, & healthy protein smoothie! Use this as a base to make many different smoothie flavors.
- 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk or more depending on desired consistency
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1 tsp . chia seeds
- 1 cup spinach
- *Optional- ice
Add all ingredients to a blender or personal blender. Blend until smooth. Add more liquid if needed. Enjoy!
Other possible add-ins or replacements include: coconut water, coconut milk, nut butter, cacao nibs, other flavor protein powder, cinnamon, bee pollen, flax seeds, citrus fruits, avocado…
